Say Cheese

This layout documents the birth of my third baby...
MY CAMERA!

I had so much fun with this layout!
I was going for the "tossed on the table" look.
and wanted the journaling to look more like sloppy notes,
than a pretty letter or diary entry.

I cut and rounded the corners of the picture to look like a poliroid photo.
Quickly added the name and date-
like my Nana used to do with our old photos.

The last thing I did was splatter black paint to look like ink.
This was outta my comfort zone,
but very freeing at the same time!

Don't love all the buttons, embellishment, and camera stuff...
Well, good!  'Cause I know where you can get all this
 and a whole lot MORE!

Head over to the Front Porch Kit site
and order you "Say Cheese" kit!
Happy Snappin'

Magnetic File Folder

So here is my first project with my "Say Cheese" kit...

Look twice at this...
It started as an accordion file folder.
and see the big lable... it is chalk board paper!

I put magnetic strips on the back,
so it will stick to our refrigerator!

No more papers sliding all over when
the kids slam the fridge door!

Perfect for school calenders
and unfinished homework!

and if you think this is pretty cute...
heard on over to see what the other Front Porch Girls made
and while you're there order your kit!

A Beachy Display

I can't tell you how thrilled I was when I opened up my new
Front Porch Kit: Just Add Water
and saw all the pretty coastal colors!
I knew instantly I wanted to make stuff to add
to my beachy display on the buffet in our entryway.

One of my favorite projects was the Maya Road chip board album.

I started the project by adding more holes to the bottom of the chipboard...
this was I would tie it with twine nice and
tight so it would be able to stand according style.
After a quick coat of paint I designed each page individually.
I had so many fantastic pictures for a very resent beach trip...
the hardest part was picking the pictures!
I really liked working with the sand paper.
It adds such a fun texture.
The little crushed shells also added so much to the pages.
I used a puddle of diamond glaze to adhere it.

The kit had so many fun little things to use as embellishments...
 the clustering was a snap!!

And then I found this lovely turquoise cake plate that made the perfect display at a local store for just $11... yay me!!  And yay you, because we still have a few Just Add Water Kits left! So if you have not bought yours yet... head over HERE and get one and is you are still thinking about it... check out the list of Front Porch Girl blogs in my side bar.  This girls have made the most beautiful things with their kit- you will be truly inspired!!

Addy in Paradise

I happen to be the mother of a total beach babe!
Adelyn has loved the beach since her very first summer...
I was very happy when my mom and I
were able to capture these beautiful pictures of her.

The colors were a perfect match to the colors
in the Just Add Water: Front Porch Kit.

I did use a special effect on Picasa to bring out the peachy/ gold tones.
If you have not down loaded Picasa
to edit and organize your photos... you should!
it is so user friendly and FREE!
For an added detail I strung seed beads onto some thread
and the used Diamond Glaze to glue the beaded swirls into place.
And as you know, no page is complete without
some journaling in my own handwriting!

She's Crafty

I made a fun layout of Adelyn and all her craftiness
 with my "Sew Artsy" Kit.
The kit comes with a nice, sturdy, piece of linen type paper
that I ran through my printer for my journaling.
It was nice to reflect on passing down the "creative gene".
I just loved adding all the pretty trim...
makes my page look girly and artsy!
I had so many wonderful pictures of
Adelyn doing all her crafts and art...
from dying eggs to painting marshmallows to seasonal crafts!
And would you believe there is even a sticker
in the kit with a "Creative Clutter" quote!!
Also, notice the vintage buttons and lace...
so many great vintage pieces in this kit!
