Christmas Layouts

So this season instead of trying to do a December Daily album,
I elected to take the 12 Days of Christmas Class at Big Picture Classes.
The ideas is that they send you 12 days of photo prompts
and a list of supplies and ideas to think about.

Then after Christmas, as things are settling down...
you get a video and a sketch to go along with the pictures
 and supplies you have collected.
Nice, huh?

One of the ideas was to capture a Holiday song or phrase.
I chose "It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year"

These photos were so perfect and really captured the feeling at our house.

I love this LilyBee Paper and you know who much
I like using my own handwriting for journaling.
This was actually one of my very favorite layouts!

This assignment was to capture writing a letter to Santa,
but frankly we did not do that this year.
Gasp!  I know!

But I subbed out these great photos of the kids in the Christmas show at church.
I just had to tell the story of my sweet Mikey wearing his angle wings and halo,
all smiles, singing, smiling, loving the entire thing.
And then there was was Addy, who tore off her wings and halo,
picked her nose, and yawned the whole time front and center!!

This is exactly why I scrapbook!
The stories.
The legacy.
The delightful moments we often for get!

A Wedding Page

My MIL got married last summer and had a tropical themed wedding. I used my (well, my mom's) left over paper to make this simple layout.

This ribbon is from Martha Stewart... I really liked working with it and making these pleats!

I double stacked pop dots to really make the flowers stand up and added stickles to make them shine... Every page is better with stickles!!

Lucky Me

March is here and it makes me feel LUCKY! I have been holding on to the great doodle rainbow paper for awhile and when I pulled out last years St. Patty's Day pics... well, I struck gold! I added my own doodles, a hand drawn cloud embelly, and tried a scallop technique I have been seeing around. You tuck in several 1" circle punches behind borders or pictures to make them appear to be a scalloped border... pretty charming!

LO for My Hubby

On my family blog, I made a sweet post for my husband HERE. And really wanted to use the same pictures and journaling to make a LO for his book. I used this week's sketch from Sketchy Thursdays and my stamps from CTMH.

2 Peas Free Classes

Did you know Twp Peas in a Bucket now has free monthly classes? I took/ watched the January Scrapbook Stamping Class with Nichol Magouirk. I enjoyed it and felt pretty motivated to pull out my inks and play with some fun stamps. I stamped the background, frame, and tags!
Do I have the cutest SIL or what?

My New Favorite Layout

I started with such sweet pictures of Adelyn, my niece, and their grandmother (Lala) wearing big girly hats and this great paper from My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary line, then added it to the fun sketch from the Design Dollies challenge... out came my new favorite page! I made my own embellishment flowers, by free hand cutting nesting circles... crumbling them in my hand, inking the sides, stacking them, and then sticking a button in the middle.
Here is my big one. You can see how the flowers mimic the back ground paper.

If you have girls to scrap, you really need this paper!

And if you have great photos and great paper... you have to visit Design Dollies and checkout their creative sketches! It is also inspiring to see how other girls interpret the sketch.

Home

Since we put our first home up for sale in June, I have been thinking about making this page.
It worked out very nice with the Design Dollies September sketch challenge. (Thanks, girls!) I wanted a home-made feel to the page, so I added a border that looks like old fabric. I did this by snipping all around the edge, then running the paper under water and crumbling it just a bit. When it dried it had a lovely aged look and added texture to my page.

My journaling block was stamped and then raised with foam squares. "Home... This is the home Daddy came to after the war... this is where Mike took his first steps... Where Addy celebrated her first holidays..." and then at the bottom of the page I continued the journaling with... "This is the house we made into our first home" and then I wrote the address.
My favorite embellishment these days... a fabric flower with my great grandmothers old button in the middle. (sorry for the blur)

The last thing I did was make a pocket for a few photos I had of the inside of our home.

These slide behind the smaller winter picture and have a few tabs so you know they are there.

On the back of the matted photo I just put three slim pieces of foam to hold the extra photos in place.

There... a perfect fit!

Thanks for looking... hope you try something new on your next page!
